Prescription Drug Event - PDE Processing and Edit Code 870

CMS is notifying plans of an issue with the PDE Edit Code 870 bypass condition described in the HPMS memo, “Updates to the Drug Data Processing System” released on September 30, 2021. Due to a CMS internal system issue, PDEs that would have otherwise met the criteria for the Edit Code 870 bypass condition began rejecting on October 4, 2021. The Drug Data Processing System (DDPS) is currently being updated to resolve this matter.

Beginning on December 5, 2021, plans can resubmit PDEs that were affected by this issue.
